M1RA’s Attila Tassi has been delivered a new car from JAS Motorsport in time for the first practice session of the TCR International Series at the Salzburgring, after his huge shunt on Friday wrote-off his regular car.
The Hungarian youngster endured a huge shunt during Friday afternoon’s free testing session when he went head-first into the barriers at Turn 10, causing his Civic to roll and be impossible to repair trackside.
However JAS Motorsport were able to dispatch a spare chassis from their base in Northern Italy on Friday night, with the car arriving in Austria in the early hours of Saturday morning at 04:00 a.m.
Tassi meanwhile visited the circuit’s medical centre, where he was discharged.
The Civic has since been given its livery and the car passed scrutineering early on Saturday morning. Tassi will have to start race one from the back of the grid because of the inevitable engine change.
“It has been a fantastic effort from everybody at JAS and in the team,” said Team Principal Norbert Michelisz. “We all wanted to do our best and give Attila the possibility to race, because our aim is to win the championship.”
