Thed Björk described two strong finishes in the World Touring Car Championship curtain-raiser as ‘better than I expected’.
Similarly strong results for his Polestar Cyan Racing team-mates Nicky Catsburg and Néstor Girolami sees Volvo sit joint-first in the Manufacturer stakes with Honda.
Björk had expected the Circuit Moulay el Hassan to represent Polestar’s greatest challenge in terms of setup this season.
Björk, who claimed the runner-up spot in a race of attrition in the season opener, then backed it up with seventh in a tightly-contested main race. The net result sees him sit fifth in the standings, eighteen points adrift of leader Tiago Monteiro.
“This result is better than I expected, I am so happy to start the season with a podium and to together lead the manufacturers’ championship on a track that should be our toughest of the season,” admitted Björk.
“I head back to Sweden with a really good feeling for the rest of the season, it is all about collecting points and we have done just that.”
