Michela Cerruti will get back behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR in the second round of the TCR International Series in Bahrain.
The Italian had been lined up to race for the GE-Force team this year, before the deal with Dušan Borković wassigned for the season.
Cerruti thus had to watch the races in Georgia on the pit wall, as the team’s driver Davit Kajaia went on to score a sensational home pole and first win for the Giulietta on Sunday.
“I felt immense joy, even though I was not driving,” said Cerruti. “It has been very emotional to celebrate a victory in a different role. The Giulietta is my baby; I played a part in its birth and growth, and I drove it when this kind of result was definitely beyond our hopes.
Cerruti will thus return to the race seat for the first time since January, when she took part in the season opener of the TCR Middle East Series before handing over to Kajaia.
“After my podium in Dubai and the outstanding performance of Davit and Dušan in Georgia, I can’t wait to be at the wheel myself once again,” added the 30-year-old. “Although, for the time being, we are considering it as a one-off appearance.
“But I will try and do my best to help the team to score more points in the championship.”
