WestCoast Racing has unveiled the new livery which will adorn its pair of Volkswagen Golf GTi cars in the forthcoming TCR International Series season, with the team also announcing a new title sponsor.
Having switched to Volkswagen cars for the coming season, the Swedish team have also renewed eisting partnerships, albeit with a different approach for the coming year.
Title sponsor Ejendals will display their TEGERA brand on the cars as title sponsor, having previously used the partnership to showcase their JALAS brand in a supporting capacity.
Gianni Morbidelli remains on boards as the team’s lead driver, and he is joined by fellow Italian Giacomo Altoè, who is less than half Morbidelli’s age.
Team Manager James Nixon is predicting a challenging first part of the season for the Swedish team, as he expects their rivals to have a better handle on their cars early on.
“We are racing our new car for the first time against teams that have been running their cars for a year or two already,” explained Nixon. “I know Gianni is as hungry for wins as ever but we have accepted that it will be difficult for us in this early part of the season.
“We need to learn all about and understand our new car and be patient. Over the season, we need consistency, we have won more races than anyone in TCR International, but now we need a title.
“Giacomo drove with us on a shakedown and I must say how impressed I was by him, he has a very wise head on very young shoulders and I look forward to see his development throughout the year.”
The first two races of the TCR International Series take place in Georgia this weekend.
