There will be 90 Audi RS3 LMS TCR cars competing in the car’s first full season of competition in 2017, with the car set to feature heavily in TCR International and ADAC TCR Germany amongst other national and regional series’.
Audi announced the build and development of the car late last year, and already the uptake for the Ingolstadt marque has been significant.
The car has already taken part in the early events of the TCR Middle East and TCR Asia Series seasons, as well as in endurance races, and it is now set to feature more heavily in other established TCR championships.
Leading teams in the strongest TCR Series’ have taken on the new car, including Target Competition in TCR Germany and Comtoyou Racing in TCR International, with reigning double champion Stefano Comini.
Target are set to field four of the cars in TCR Germany, whilst at least another 12 cars will be entered by GermanFLAVOURS Racing, PROsport Performance, Steibel Motorsport, Certainty Racing Team, Racing One and LMS Racing.
In TCR International Milovan Vesnić is also planning to enter the European rounds at the wheel of an RS3.
Audi Sport’s Head of Customer Racing Chris Reinke is particularly pleased that the reigning TCR Germany champions Target Competition have chosen to run the new cars.
“We are proud that the successful team of Andreas and Markus Gummerer will now defend their titles with Audi,” said Reinke. “In Germany and around the world, we have sold a total of 90 Audi RS 3 LMS cars to our customers. We all wish all of them the best.”
The car will make its début in the TCR International Series in Georgia this weekend, when Comini gets behind the wheel of his new chassis.
