Audi immediately gets heaviest car for TCR opener

Ahead of its début in the TCR International Series this weekend, the Audi RS3 LMS has immediately been given the most Balance of Performance weight, ahead of the Opel Astra TCR.

Balance of Performance [BoP] testing was carried out at the Adria International Raceway earlier in the month, and has resulted in the new car developed by Audi Sport being given the most weight.

The RS3 will thus weigh 1,330 kg after being handed an additional 45 kg of BoP ballast. The Opel will run at slightly less, at 1,325 kg.

Both of the Honda Civic TCR and SEAT León TCR models will run at 1,315 kg, with 30 kg of BoP weight on board.

The Volkswagen Golf GTi has been given 10 kg of weight, taking it to 1,295 kg, whilst the Alfa Romeo Giulietta has once again been given a weight break of 20 kg. It means the cars of GE-Force will run at 1,265 kg at the home event for local racer Davit Kajaia.

In addition to the weights, the Golf and Giulietta have been allowed to run at a slightly reduced ride height, dropping 10 mm to 70 mm in total.

All cars will be allowed to use full power in this weekend’s races, after the decision was taken not to adjust the performance of the engines using on-board electrical components.

Further changes may be carried out during the course of the opening weekend of action.

TCR BoP testing was carried out by Nicola Larini and Andrea Belicchi, with all cars being tested over two days ahead of the new season.
