Team Honda ADAC Sachsen have confirmed that their pairing of Steve Kirsch and Dominik Fugel will continue with the team in the ADAC TCR Germany Series 2017, racing a pair of Civics.
The Chemnitz-based pair will stick with consistency, as they will both drive a Honda Civic TCR in this year’s championship.
Kirsch, 37, was third overall in last year’s driver’s standings behind champion Josh Files and runner-up Harald Proczyk, and is looking to move forward through the effective communication between himself and his ADAC Stiftung Sport-supported team mate.
“The goal is for one of us to be at the top of the table, so we know we can do it,” explained Kirsch, who is happy with the outfit that remains the same for this season.
“I still have a few weaknesses when braking, because Dominik is more merciless than me,” he admitted.
“If I brake like him, I could get something out of it again, which can be decisive in the qualifying or the race.”
“If we do not repeat the mistakes from the previous year, we can certainly move forward,” said Fugel, who was 11th in the 2016 driver standings.
“To get into the sprint race mode and to implement it directly, was not easy for me at the beginning”, said the 20-year-old, who had made the switch from endurance racing last season.
The first weekend of the 2017 ADAC TCR Germany series gets underway at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben between the 28th and 30th of April.
