Former British Touring Car Championship racer James Kaye will be the first driver to race the new Audi RS3 LMS TCR car in anger when he takes part in the opening round of the TCR Middle East Series in Dubai this weekend.
Kaye was amongst the first to get their hands on the new Ingolstadt car, taking delivery in Germany last month.
Now the Brit will compete in both the 24 Hours of Dubai and the TCR Middle East Series this weekend, marking a busy weekend for the 52-year-old.
CadSpeed are a newly formed team currently based in the United Arab Emirates, and they plan to receive a second RS3 in mid-February.
“It is very exciting to work in close cooperation with the people of Audi Sport,” said Kaye. “They are very keen to support us and want to collect as more data as possible to help in the final development of the car.
“Our priority is the TCR class of the 24H Series. However, we have already been contacted by drivers who want to race in the TCR Middle East. So, it is quite probably that at least one of our cars will take part in the whole series.”
Due to the weekend’s schedule, the first two rounds of the TCR Middle East Series will take place on Friday, after practice and qualifying on Thursday.
