The calendar for the 2017 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) season has now been announced, with Team RMG’s Marco Wittmann set to defend his drivers’ title over eight different circuits and 18 races.
The customary season opener and finale will take place at the famed Hockenheimring, with the racing starting in the first weekend of May.
The DTM then heads to the Brandenburg region two weeks later, as the Motorsport Festival at Lausitz will also see several other ADAC-run championships including the GT Masters and ADAC Formula 4 in action.
The first trip outside of Germany sees the 18 drivers battle at the Hungaroring between the 16th and 18th of July, swapping places with Austria’s Red Bull Ring, which is the setting for the penultimate round of the championship.
The series will also continue its visits to Moscow Raceway, Circuit Park Zandvoort, as both venues will host the DTM after the race along the banks of the Dutzendteich, as the Norisring will mark the half way point.
So far, Audi and BMW have announced their respective driver squads for 2017, with Mercedes yet to do so.
Further testing is set to place in the early part of the New Year in February, as all three brands are underway with the development of their new cars.
