LADA is set to leave the World Touring Car Championship at the end of the year after a four-year full-time stint in the championship, according to Russian media.
Whilst no official announcement has yet been made, Russian website Championat.com has reported that the current season will be the last for the brand in the World Championship.
It means that drivers Nicky Catsburg, Gabriele Tarquini and Hugo Valente will all be without a driver after the season finale in Qatar later this month.
The news is a double blow for the WTCC, which will lose Citroën’s factory involvement at the end of the year, leaving just Honda and Polestar as officially represented manufacturer entries.
The marque are reportedly looking to increase their presence in national championships, with the Russian Circuit Racing Series
LADA are reported to be building a TCR car to enter into Russian competition.
