In his maiden rear-wheel drive BTCC campaign, Team IHG Rewards Club’ Jack Goff is looking to conclude a difficult season with some welcome results at the Brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend.
Having secured two podiums in 2013 and last year, along with a fastest lap, the High Wycombe driver has also suffered his fair share of bad luck over the past two race weekends at Silverstone and Rockingham, leaving him 11th in the overall drivers’ standings with 186 points.
“We’ve had a pretty challenging season all things considered and I’ve lost track of the amount of bad luck we’ve had that have cost us good results through no fault of our own,” said the 25-year-old, who was hoping for a different turn of events this year.
“But none of that matters now. What does is that I have one event left on the Brands Hatch GP circuit, which is one of the best in the world, and the place where I took my first BTCC podium finish.”
With zero ballast, Goff has an opportunity to not only finish his season in the right way, going into the winter, but to also help West Surrey Racing’s efforts towards taking title glory this weekend.
“The BMW, with its fantastic chassis, should fly through the fast corners. My primary aim this weekend is to help WSR secure the manufacturers’/constructors’ title and if I can do this by getting on the podium, that would be a terrific way to end the season.”
