BMW Motorsport have announced that their involvement in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters will continue, as the brand returned to the series after a 20-year hiatus back in 2012.
“It is fantastic that the BMW Group will be even more broadly positioned and represented in all relevant areas in the future,” said Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt, as the brand will further extend its reach into racing.
This includes the FIA World Endurance Championship and Formula E, where current Team Schnitzer driver António Félix da Costa will compete under the Andretti banner for the third season, with BMW support.
“We will continue to focus on Europe in the DTM, and are looking forward to continuing the extremely close competition with the other premium manufacturers over the coming years,” explained Marquardt, as the brand stated that the championship remains “an important platform in the future.”
They have also cited that “BMW will play an active role in ensuring that the positive marketing developments seen this year will continue in the future.”
