Adam Morgan was elated with the runner-up spot in the second British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend after he was narrowly defeated by Andrew Jordan’s Ford Focus ST.
Morgan, who started the race as the highest placed car on the normal compound of Dunlop rubber, was able to follow Jordan past Tom Ingram in the middle exchanges of the race, before piling the pressure on the 2013 champion towards the end.
However, Jordan soaked up the pressure and claimed victory to put himself back into championship contention. Regardless of finishing second, however, Morgan was delighted with a fifth podium of the season.
“It’s amazing at this point in the championship to get a result like that,” beamed Morgan. “We’re looking to climb our way up the table with a good points haul here.”
He also paid tribute to Jordan’s performance on the softer tyre, which was particularly impressive considering a safety car period prolonged the race distance and cooled the rubber to an extent.
Morgan also paid tribute to his family-run WIX Racing outfit for giving him the tools capable of bringing home more silverware.
“Hats off to Andy though, on the soft tyres – I just couldn’t keep up. I must thank all the guys in yellow and black though for their hard work to get us back into the mix. I’m well happy with it though.”
Morgan will start the final race of the weekend ninth after Gordon Shedden was reversed onto pole position. The race begins at 17:17.
