Sam Tordoff extended his advantage at the top of the British Touring Car Championship after cutting expertly through from tenth on the grid to claim victory by nearly three seconds from the Motorbase Ford of Andrew Jordan and Rob Collard.
It was Jackson who initially claimed the lead from pole-sitter Gordon Shedden, whilst further back team-mate Andrew Jordan took a quartet of places as he moved through from 7th to 3rd in the opening stages.
After a fairly low-key start, Tordoff and team-mate Rob Collard made their way through the field at a rate of knots, with the former relieving Jackson of the lead at half-distance after hunting down the Motorbase pilot.
Tordoff had previously dispatched Jordan whilst Motorbase were enjoying a 1-2 on the road, but Collard was unable to claim the runner-up slot from the 2013 champion on the line and was forced to settle for third ahead of Jackson.
Further back, Jason Plato became entangled with the MG of Josh Cook, who then in turn spun his MG into the path of Tordoff’s team-mate, Jack Goff. All three would eventually be forced to retire with damage, though Goff was tagged again by Mark Howard at Tarzan hairpin before calling time on his second contest.
Matt Neal had another quiet race behind the wheel of the Halfords Yuasa Racing Type-R, though he did make up two positions to finish 6th. Regardless though, he now falls seventeen points adrift of Tordoff in the championship race, with Shedden now thirty-seven markers behind.
It also proved to be a frustrating race for Colin Turkington, who survived a scary moment at turn one after contact with the Volkswagen CC of Arón Smith left the Ulsterman spinning his Subaru Levorg GT towards the concrete wall at high speed, but the double champion used the benefit of his experience to bring the car round. He recovered to challenge for 10th, and that all-important position in the reverse grid draw, but contact with Ollie Jackson into Gracelands spun Turkington round once more, and he limped home 15th.
Aron Smith will start the final race of the weekend at Rockingham from pole position after the reverse grid draw, with Matt Neal alongside. The race gets underway at 16:40.
