WestCoast Racing will field just two Honda Civic TCR cars for Gianni Morbidelli and Mikhail Grachev in this weekend’s TCR International Series races in Germany, after failing to find a stand-in driver to fill the third car.
The Swedish outfit started the year with three drivers, who were all planning to complete the entire season. However both Aku Pellinen and Kevin Gleason had to leave the team after the third meeting of the year due to budgetary reasons.
That allowed Grachev to fill one of the seats, after moving from Engstler Motorsport. Since then, however, the team has brought in one-off drivers to race, with both Alain Menu and Harald Proczyk completing one race weekend with the squad.
Nevertheless, the team have continued to taste success, with Grachev taking his first-ever TCR win in Imola, which he immediately followed up in Austria last time out.
“We are hoping for a solid weekend without dramas, because that is what we need at the moment,” admitted Team Owner Greger Petersson. “We know we have a strong package, we just need to get it all together at the same time.”
