James Thompson will get a third outing in this season’s World Touring Car Championship at next weekend’s Race of Russia, once again standing in for René Münnich in the team’s Chevrolet Cruze.
Thompson has already twice previously raced the Münnich Motorsport car this season, stepping in for Münnich in Slovakia and Morocco when the German had commitments in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
The Russian round of the WTCC at the Moscow Raceway also clashes with the Norwegian round of World RX, giving Thompson another opportunity to race the RML Cruze.
The Brit has so far finished in a high of ninth in the current WTCC season, which he scored in the Main Race in Marrakech.
Thompson had earlier started the reverse-grid Opening Race from pole position, but was taken out only a few corners into the race by LADA’s Hugo Valente.
After Moscow, Thompson could get a further chance to race for Münnich Motorsport, with the Race of Argentina in early August clashing with the World Rallycross round in Canada.
