B3 Racing’s Dušan Borković admits that he is surprised to have emerged from the Oschersleben round of the TCR International Series with two podium finishes, having endured a thrilling pair of races.
Borković started race one from pole position, but the Serbian racer lost the lead after only a handful of laps due to making a mistake in the slippery conditions.
A further slide shortly afterwards threatened to drop the SEAT racer even further down the order, but Borković held on to secure his third podium of the season.
Race two saw the Serbian ace come through from ninth on the grid to again finish in second, thanks in part to a strong first lap which allowed him to be in the right position when others made mistakes ahead of him on the road.
“Two seconds is a very good result, and most of all, it means I am again able to finish races!” said Borković, who has moved up to eighth overall in the drivers’ championship as a result. “I really thought I could win race one. I took the lead and was trying to build a gap, but unfortunately I made a mistake in the rain, going wide and losing positions.
“I was able to charge back, although there was some more sliding, and race two had a relatively similar scenario.
“I’m still wondering how I survived all that, but the good news is that we are back on the podium and that this time there isn’t additional work for the mechanics.
“This was a great weekend. This is what I needed the most. This brings back my self-confidence and I hope to continue with this pace in Sochi and that I will collect more points before the summer break.”
