With the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season living up to what has been an exciting year so far, former points leaser Paul Di Resta admitted to TouringCars.Net yesterday (Saturday 4th June) that things are looking more favourable for today’s 60-minute race.

“Yeah, we just got it slightly wrong with the set-up,” explained the 2010 champion, who is now level on points with Robert Wickens, with both having 43 points to their credit.

“Testing was so sharp, and we believed were we were, and it’s kind of worked in other places, but we’re a little bit different to the other Mercedes, and they proved it today.”

The former Force India F1 driver said that there is no compromise being made, stating that there were plenty of tyres at his disposal for today’s schedule, which starts at 09:00 local time this morning (Sunday June 5th).

“It’s something you can change for tomorrow, so we’ll go back to where we were. Other than that, we were pretty strong in the race yesterday, but qualifying is key here, and I was slightly out of balance.”

After five races with five different winners, the race for the title is closer than ever in the DTM, but the only driver to consistently score in every race is Team RBM’s Maxime Martin.

“It’s very close, as scoring points is key, which means we are still in the mix. It was a difficult race, there’s no two ways about it, but we’ll see what happens,” said the Scot, as all the drivers are very much aware of just how uncertain this year is.

“It could be good for me and difficult for Robert. It was a good job by him as he got the most out of it, and I suppose its good to have two guys up there for the manufacturer as well.”
