A last-minute driver change at B.D. Racing means that the team will field the first-ever all-female driver line up in the TCR International Series at Imola tomorrow, with Alessandra Neri replacing Diego Romanini.
With Romanini being forced to skip the event at the last minute due to business commitments, Neri will step into one of the team’s SEAT León Cup Racer cars.
It means that the team will field the first-ever all-female multi-car team in the championship, with Neri joining 24-year-old Carlotta Fedeli in the outfit.
In another first, Neri, who works as part of the commentary team on SKY Italia’s F1coverage, will also provide live commentary throughout the races for Italy’s SKY Formula One HD channel.
“It’s a big challenge for me, because I haven’t raced for around four years and never in a front-wheel drive car,” said Neri of her last-minute opportunity. “So I need to sweep the rust away, get to know the car and talk live on TV altogether.
“We’ll be live only during race two – because broadcasting of the first race will be slightly delayed – and only in moments when I’m not too busy with the racing…”
Neri has also acted as a commentator for the TCR International Series in Italy along with Lucio Rizzica.
