Jordi Oriola will return to the TCR International Series at Imola this weekend, as Target Competition temporarily enter a Honda Civic TCR instead of their planned Opel Astra TCR car.
Oriola raced with the team in the season opening round in Bahrain, but was then forced to sit out the subsequent meetings after Opel Motorsport decided to privately continue the testing of their new Astra TCR car.
That left the Spaniard without the opportunity to race in Portugal or Belgium, with Target Competition also missing from the grid.
The team have now taken the decision to use a Honda Civic TCR for the next two rounds in Italy and Austria, with an assessment to be made following those rounds as to whether the team can return to racing Opel machinery.
“Following the decision taken by Opel Motorsport to have a break from racing and focusing on testing to develop the Astra TCR, we have been looking for an alternative solution that could enable Jordi to re-join the championship,” explained Team Manager Walter Gummerer. “Now the plan is to race at Imola and Salzburgring with the Honda.
“Afterwards we will reconsider the situation according to any further developments.”
