Spaniard Jordi Gené will make a return to the TCR International Series at Imola this weekend, replacing Mikhail Grachev at the wheel of one of Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Volkswagen Golf GTi cars.
Gené, who was a three-time race winner in 2015, is making a one-off return to the series with the German team.
The Spaniard finished as runner-up in the 2015 season, racing a SEAT León for Craft-Bamboo Racing. Although not retained by the team for 2016, Gené was instrumental in the development of the car from its roots as the León Cup Racer.
As a result, Gené has also been involved in the development of the new Golf racer, which is based on the same platform as the León.
