B3 Racing has managed to repair Attila Tassi’s SEAT León after his spectacular shunt in the opening TCR International Series race at Spa-Francorchamps, allowing him to start race two.
Tassi went off the circuit at high-speed at Turn 12, with a puncture leaving him helpless as hiscar speared head-on into the tyre barriers.
Whilst the crash looked spectacular, he and his team insist that it looked worse than it was, with the young Hungarian walking away from the crash and his car emerging surprisingly with only superficial damage.
“Actually the accident was more spectacular than severe”, said Tassi. “I had a puncture in one of the front tyres and went off. There was nothing I could do to avoid going straight into the tyre-wall. It was a big shunt but, luckily enough, the tyres are quite thick there and that limited the damage, although images on TV were quite dramatic.”
In the accident Tassi’s engine seal was broken, with the stewards considering the loss of the seal as a case of force majeure, resulting in no further action to be taken.
