Tiago Monteiro will take part in the season opener of the TCR Benelux season, racing a JAS Motorsport-built Honda Civic with Stéphane Lémeret in the Boutsen Ginion team.
Monteiro, who currently leads the World Touring Car Championship at the wheel of a works’ Honda Civic TC1, will take part in the event at Spa-Francorchamps on the weekend of May 21 and 22.
The Portuguese driver will be aiming for victory in the event, which will be a one-off appearance in the new series for the WTCC driver.
To reflect Monteiro’s participation, the car will adorn the number 18, whilst featuring the traditional colours of the Boutsen Ginion team in black and orange.
The event will mark Monteiro’s first time behind the wheel of a TCR car. His Honda team-mate in the WTCC, Rob Huff, has already sampled the machinery, winning in the season finale of the TCR International Series in Macau in 2015.
