Peugeot Sport have entrusted Sébastien Loeb Racing to enter two Peugeot 308 Cup cars in the TCR International Series at Spa-Francorchamps.
The car had been tipped to enter TCR in 2016 after having taken part in the pre-season Balance of Performance [BoP] testing in Valencia.
Now Peugeot Sport have confirmed that two cars will be enter by Sébastien Loeb’s racing team in the Belgian round of the series in early May.
“We are honoured that Peugeot Sport entrusted two cars to Sébastien Loeb Racing for taking part in the TCR event in Spa,” said TCR promoter Marcello Lotti. “Their participation will add further credit to the TCR concept.
“I am confident that the 308 Racing Cup will show the great potential that impressed our BoP driver Nicola Larini during the Valencia test.”
The car features a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, which is smaller than the normal two-litre limit. Whilst the TCR regulations are designed for two-litre engines, the 308 Cup racer will be allowed in by a special exemption.
An announcement regarding the two drivers is expected in due course.
