Top Run Motorsport has successfully completed a day of testing at the San Martino del Lago circuit in Italy, with Luca Rangoni taking to the wheel of the Subaru STi TCR car in its first proper test since the end of the 2015 season.
Rangoni was the driver of the car when it made its first race start at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in September. The Italian returned to the wheel to help the team further develop its car for 2016.
“This was the first proper test after last year’s races and we were very happy with it,” explained Top Run Team Manager Renato Russo. “The car adopted some new solutions that were worked out following the advice given by Luca and Alain Menu.
“The engine has always been the car’s strong point with an excellent mix of power and range, but now the car also has a good balance although we still need to work to reduce the understeer. This is our priority, because we wish to offer a product that can be easily driven by amateur drivers as well.”
As well as Rangoni driving, rally driver Manfred Stohl also took to the wheel for a number of laps. The Austrian is currently evaluating plans to run the Subaru in his own team in the TCR Germany Series.
Further testing of the car is planned to continue next week.
