The inaugural European Trophy for TCR drivers who compete in the various national championships will feature six rounds in 2016.
The trophy has been designed in cooperation with the promoters of the various national championships.
“This is a purely commercial trophy, based on the cooperation of the promoters of six TCR national championships in Europe that agreed to nominate one of their own events as a round of the Trophy,” explained TCR promoter Marcello Lotti.
Each round of the Trophy will be run in accordance with the sporting regulations of the hosting championship, which will require all teams to conform to the individual rules regarding race and qualifying format, control tyres and so on.
Only teams and drivers who have registered for the full season in one of the TCR championships will be eligible to score points in the Trophy. Points will be allocated to the top ten drivers in the following order: 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1. Only the best four scores will count towards the final classification.
The TCR Trophy Europe will kick off with its first round in Russia at the Smolensk Ring on May 15th.
