Maximum Motorsport will partner with Mountune for their 2016 British Touring Car Championship campaign, which will see Stewart Lines take up team ownership in his second season of racing in the BTCC.
Lines made his BTCC début in 2015, racing a Toyota Avensis for the Housmena Racing squad, eventually finishing the year in 32nd in the championship, having scored no points.
After acquiring a Ford Focus and TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) from AmD Tuning, Lines will now compete with a “competitive [engine] on a par with the other Fords” after partnering with Mountune for the year ahead.
“We will try our hardest to be the most competitive we possibly can be for 2016,” said Lines at the time. “This is the hardest race series in the UK. It’s a challenge, but a very exciting one.
“Last year I quickly realised I was never going to be competitive in the equipment I had, however, I used this a learning curve to gain experience for 2016 but better results are our aim straight away.”
Lines will initially run with the GPRM-spec NGTC components, but did not rule out upgrading to the new RML parts once the season is underway.
“We would like to upgrade to the new RML parts, but initially we will keep the car as it is for pre-season and make that decision further down the line. We need to get our feet under the table first with the new machinery.”
