John Filippi will contest his third season in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2016, with the young Frenchman continuing at the wheel of a Campos Racing Chevrolet Cruze TC1.
Filippi will embark on his second successive season racing TC1 machinery, and his third full year in the WTCC, after inking a deal to remain at Campos.
Significantly, the 20-year-old has also signed former multiple champion and current works Citroën driver Yvan Muller to act as his coach in the forthcoming season.
“I am very happy to continue our common story,” said Filippi. “My objective is to establish my legitimacy in this championship with my last performances in mind.
“I am very happy to continue working with the engineers and mechanics from the Campos team. I am very confident for this season and I hope that I can get some great results.”
Muller added that he is pleased to be working with his young compatriot in the forthcoming season, adding: “I am happy to accompany John for the future. He has already shown great things despite his young age.”
As in 2015, Filippi will be supported by car parts company Oscaro, with CEO Pierre-Noel Luiggi adding that he expects Filippi to continue to improve on his results in 2016.
“I am very happy to count John once more among our ambassadors,” said Luiggi. “Since all these years he has not stopped progressing and climbing the ladder of racing. I am persuaded that this year he will be going to the next level and prove his talent to the entire world.”
Filippi will be keen to improve on his career-best WTCC result of eighth, achieved in 2014 and equalled in 2015 in race two in Morocco.
