DG Sport Compétition will enter an Opel Astra TCR car for experienced racers Pierre-Yves Corthals and Frédéric Caprasse in the TCR Benelux Championship in 2016.
Uniquely, TCR Benelux offers drivers the opportunity to share the car in the 60-minute endurance race which features at every round, scoring the same points for the race.
Four sprint races then follow, with the driver who posted the fastest lap of the endurance race competing in races one and two, and the other driver participating in races three and four.
Corthals has previously competed in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) between 2006 and 2010, as well as claiming five titles in the Renault Clio Cup in Belgium in the 1990s and 2000s.
“The TCR championship is a great opportunity for me to show my skills and experience with the front-wheel driven cars,” said the 40-year-old.
Caprasse, meanwhile, was crowned champion in the 2015 VW Fun Cup. He also has experience at the wheel of a TCR car, having campaigned a SEAT León in the Belgian Championships in 2015.
DG Sport will receive their first car at the beginning of April, whilst Team Manager Alain Georges and Technical Director Lionel Hansen are evaluating the possibility of running a second car in the championship.
