Eurotech Racing will expand to become a three-car operation in the 2016 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), having purchased an additional TBL from Houseman Racing.
The announcement means that the team, which are now owned by driver Jeff Smith, will become the fourth team on next season’s grid to expand to running three cars.
The team had earlier this year revealed their aspirations to expand, but the TBL licence allocation released earlier this month only had the team down as holding two TBLs. That has now increased to three with the news that Houseman Racing will leave the series and sold their licence and equipment to Eurotech.
“It has been our intention to expand the team to three cars for some time and the purchase of the TBL, Toyota Avensis and spare shell has enabled us to move the plans forward,” said Eurotech Chief Engineer Adam Tanner.
“Whilst we don’t intend running the Toyota we now have the options of utilising many of the TOCA parts or selling the car complete with spare shell and considerable spares as a standalone package.”
The team plan to run a trio of Honda Civic Type R cars next year, and will use the latest RML specification upgrades. Interested drivers are urged to contact team boss Smith.
The deal has also received the backing of series organiser TOCA.
