Tin Sritrai insists that he is not feeling any pressure ahead of his début in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) this weekend, where the Thai racer is contesting his home event.
Sritrai will race the third Campos Racing Chevrolet in the penultimate WTCC meeting of the season in Buriram.
However the Thai local is no stranger to the track, having contested numerous races around the Chang International Circuit, including last weekend’s TCR International Series races at the wheel of a SEAT León.
The 26-year-old admits to aspiring to international-level touring car racing, and is excited to be racing alongside some of the most famous names in tin-top competition.
“I am so proud that I have the chance to go and do WTCC Race of Thailand because all my idols of touring car racing are gathered here,” said Sritrai. “I am so excited to be here in the WTCC in 2015 in Thailand.
“I am not feeling so much pressure. I am doing this race to have fun and I will do my best for the races here in Thailand.”
Sritrai finished runner-up in the opening TCR Asia Series race last weekend, before going on to take class honours in race two with an eighth place finish ahead of compatriot Munkong Sathienthirakul. He admits that the races have helped him to prepare for his WTCC début.
“I have prepared for all the season and last weekend I had a race at Buriram so I feel well prepared now.
“I am sure with the cars and drivers so close together and I am sure there will be some good races and good competition in the WTCC.”
Srirtrai also hinted that fans of the WTCC could use the event as a reason to take a holiday in the popular tourist hotspot.
“Not only do we have this great circuit in Buriram but Thailand has many tourism attractions such as the beaches and so much more. We welcome all tourists to come to Thailand because there are many things to do on holiday.”
