Mercedes-AMG DTM’s test and reserve driver, Esteban Ocon, will replace Mücke Motorsport’s Daniel Juncadella at the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) finale at the Hockenheimring.
The 2014 FIA Formula 3 European Champion, who current races for ART Grand Prix in the GP3 series, will stand in for Juncadella, who withdrew from the final weekend at the last minute, due to illness.
The French driver is the second substitute this season, as Antonio Giovinazzi replaced Team Phoenix’s Timo Scheider at Moscow Raceway. This was following the two-time champion’s ban, as a result of the “scheib ihn raus” controversy at the Red Bull Ring in July.
Ocon is also second in the GP3 driver standings with 194 points, having scored one win and ten podiums.
The 19-year-old from Normandy, who will run with race number 34 this weekend, has sampled DTM machinery previously at Circuit Jerez de la Frontera in December 2014, during a Mercedes young driver test.
