Top Run Motorsport has confirmed that it will race its brand new Subaru Impreza WRX car in the TCR International Series in Singapore next weekend.
The Italian-based team have recently completed a successful test at Franciacorta in Italy with test drivers Roberto Russo, Gian Maria Gabbiani and former Italian F3 champion and ex-World Touring Car Championship driver Luca Rangoni.
“We were very pleased with the test,” said Team Principal Antonio Agnello. “The car ran well and we only encountered some minor technical issues that can be easily fixed.
“Results in terms of reliability and performance were even beyond our expectations, which pushed us to confirm our plan of shipping the car to Singapore.
“I have to say that our team personnel have done wonders to meet the tight schedule, and this is despite the summer break which delayed deliveries from a number of suppliers.”
The test followed a successful run last week (2 September) in which Russo and Gabiani tested the car for the first time at the Tazio Nuvolari circuit in Cervesina, Italy.
“It was a positive first outing that gave us the opportunity to check on some teething problems and start working on the set up,” said Agnello of the first run. “It was not easy, because we had to share the track time with other cars and bikes, which limited the number of laps we were able to complete.
“Everything considered, we are satisfied with the work done and we are confident in the car’s potential. Now we need to work hard and exploit it.”
Both the driver for its maiden appearance in Singapore and the livery of the car have yet to be revealed.
