Motorbase Performance driver Mat Jackson insists that more podiums are on his agenda this weekend as the British Touring Car Championship visits Rockingham.
After shedding the penalty weight imposed on the team in its comeback meeting at Snetterton, Jackson left Knockhill as the highest points scorer from the round, having secured his and Motorbase’s first podiums – a second and a third – since their return a round previously.
And following those results, the multiple race winner set his sights on more visits to the rostrum at Rockingham – another circuit that has favoured his Ford Focus in recent years.
“After a great weekend at Knockhill, I’m hoping that we can carry our momentum forward into Rockingham,” said Jackson. “We’re heading into the weekend free of ballast which should give us an edge in qualifying and the plan is to be challenging for a front row start again.
“We’re aiming for podiums, but anything is possible.”
Team-mate James Cole was also confident about his chances as he eyed a maiden top ten finish in the BTCC in his third meeting with the team.
“After a tough weekend at Knockhill I’m looking forward to getting back into the Focus again and back on a track that I know well,” he said. “Rockingham is a circuit that I’m personally better suited to and the car has had success here in the past so the plan is to pick up where we left off at Snetterton and to come back fighting for a top ten finish.”
