Aron Smith was in a bullish mood after he qualifying second on the grid for tomorrow’s opening British Touring Car Championship race at Rockingham.
Irishman Smith was the best placed of the Team BMR drivers during Saturday’s qualifying session, as he secured a front row grid slot for the fourth time this season, just 0.050s behind poleman and former team-mate Mat Jackson.
And despite feeling a late red flag had hindered his chances of securing a second pole of the season, Smith was nevertheless encouraged by his pace, and saw today’s three races as his best opportunity yet to land a first win of the campaign.
