Andrew Jordan hopeful of return to form

Andrew Jordan says he will “go all out” at Silverstone this weekend in search of a first win of 2015 after declaring his British Touring Car Championship hopes over.

Triple Eight Racing driver Jordan travels to the Northamptonshire circuit fifth in the drivers’ standings – while his 46-point deficit to championship leader Gordon Shedden would be enough for him to remain in the title battle into the final weekend of the season at Brands Hatch.

But despite his position, Jordan insisted that he no longer considered himself a contender for the crown – particularly in the wake of a disappointing outing at Rockingham three weeks ago.

“I’m still of the opinion that although it is mathematically possible, the title is gone for us now so there is no point thinking about it,” said a resigned 26 year-old.

Instead, Jordan said he would focus his efforts on returning to the front of the field – but steered clear of any bold predictions given his results so far this season.

“The car should go well at Silverstone but the trouble is everyone has moved on so much that you can’t guarantee of replicating the form of previous seasons,” he continued. “We’re going to try some different things with the car set-up wise this weekend and a lot of them are ones we have never ran before.

“I’ve decided that we need to just go all out and try to improve the car to close the gap and I’m optimistic that what we have planned will enable us to do that. Obviously podiums and wins are the aim but we will see how things play out.”
