Italian team Top Run Motorsport has revealed that Gian Maria Gabbiani and Roberto Russo will act as its test drivers in developing the new Subaru Impreza for the TCR International Series.
The team announced plans to build a brace of the Japanese cars for the new touring car series back in April, and have been working flat-out ever since to ready the two cars in time for the Singapore round in September.
With the team expecting to begin testing in the third week of August, the drivers for the test programme have now been revealed. Gabbiani is a 36-year-old GT and touring car driver, scoring race wins in the domestic Italian championships for both categories.
Russo is a 56-year-old race winning driver with Top Run who has previously claimed wins in the Italian Touring Car Championship with Lancia, Alfa Romeo and Nissan.
Progress is continuing apace on the new Subarus, with the engine and all systems now fitted into the shell and carbon fibre bodywork components expected to be fitted in the coming days.
The ninth round of the TCR International Series takes place on the 18 – 20 September at the Marina Bay International Circuit in Singapore, supporting the Formula One grand prix.
