Aiden Moffat has been handed a first British Touring Car Championship podium after a post-race penalty for West Surrey Racing’s Andy Priaulx at Knockhill.
The pair had squabbled for much of the latter part of the day’s final race after Moffat had started the reverse-grid encounter from second, before Priaulx pushed the Laser Tools Racing driver wide at Scotsman to nip into third place.
That was the second incident between the pair after Priaulx had tried to push past Moffat on the straight, while the WSR driver had earlier nudged Jason Plato at the hairpin to overtake the championship leader.
The stewards took the decision after the race to hand Priaulx a 3.5 second penalty, thus reversing the pair’s finishing positions and handing Moffat a maiden podium finish in the series.
Moffat had also lost a position to Rob Austin after Priaulx’s move, but re-passed the Audi driver on the final lap.
