Gordon Shedden led the first British Touring Car Championship practice session at Knockhill, heading team-mate Matt Neal for a Honda 1-2.
The pair had been quiet for much of the 40-minute session, but Scotsman Shedden shot to the top of the times with five minutes remaining with a benchmark time of 52.267s, while Neal improved in the closing minutes to end just 0.005s slower.
Mat Jackson had led much of the session in his Motorbase Ford Focus and ended up with the third quickest time, while Adam Morgan and Sam Tordoff rounded out the top five.
With the session curtailed just short of the 40-minute mark after a red flag was shown in the final minute, Andrew Jordan, Andy Priaulx, Rob Collard and Rob Austin finished sixth-to-ninth respectively, while Aiden Moffat, who was cleared to drive yesterday after suffering a concussion at Snetterton, rounded out the top ten in his Mercedes A-Class.
Championship leader Jason Plato finished in 13th, one place behind Aron Smith and four ahead of team-mate and closest challenger Colin Turkington.
