Colin Turkington dominated proceedings in the opening British Touring Car Championship race at Snetterton, heading home team-mates Aron Smith and Jason Plato to secure a Team BMR podium lockout.
Turkington led away from pole and raced clear to clinch just a second victory of the season, 1.706s ahead of Smith who in turn had a second in hand over Plato.
After holding his lead off the line, Turkington was challenged by Smith around the outside of Montreal on the opening lap but showed the Irishman out wide on the exit, while further back Rob Collard received a whack to the rear of his BMW before being spun at the hairpin.
Despite fears about how the soft tyre might hold up, Turkington stretched his lead in the opening stages and led by two seconds by the midway stage, as Andy Priaulx perfected a move on Matt Neal after a lap-long squabble for fifth.
And with Smith keeping half an eye on Plato behind, Northern Irishman Turkington swept to victory, which also secure his team a first 1-2-3 finish.
That was only secured on the final lap, however, after Plato had been forced to defend his third place from Andrew Jordan during the final third of the race, with that pressure only relenting on the final lap as a charging Priaulx caught the pair, with his intentions forcing Jordan to go defensive.
Matt Neal came home sixth, a second clear of Adam Morgan who held off Dave Newsham by half a second, with Jack Goff and Tom Ingram completing the top ten.
There was more bad news for Gordon Shedden, however, with the erstwhile championship leader quagmired in the middle of the pack. The Scot had climbed as high as 11th, but dropped back to 14th late on after being passed by Mat Jackson and Warren Scott.
