Augusto Farfus fastest in Zandvoort second practice

BMW ‘s Augusto Farfus set the pace in the second free practice session at Circuit Park Zandvoort this morning, as the entire Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) field were separated by 1.315 seconds around the 4.307km circuit.

The Brazilian, who won at the Dutch venue back in 2013, led a BMW 1-2-3 at the end of the 45-minute session, ahead of rookie Tom Blomqvist and António Félix da Costa. Both Farfus and Blomqvist were the only drivers to dip below the 1m32s mark, with the former posting a 1:31.518.

Current points leader Jamie Green posted the fastest time for Audi Sport in fourth, setting an identical time of 1:32.035 alongside da Costa, but the Brit set his best effort later on in the session.

Both the Mercedes of Paul Di Resta and Lucas Auer ended up fifth and sixth respectively, ahead of Team Abt’s Miguel Molina and Team Phoenix’s Timo Scheider.

ART Grand Prix had two cars in the top ten, as Auer’s team mate, Briton Gary Paffett, posted the ninth fastest time, with Adrian Tambay completing the top ten.

First practice pace setter Mike Rockenfeller ended up 13th fastest, with Norisring race winners Pascal Wehrlein and Robert Wickens placing 19th and 23rd respectively.

Qualifying for race one starts at 1455 CEST (1355 BST) this afternoon.
