Rickard Rydell has got back behind the wheel of his Nika Racing Honda Civic, which the Swede should be racing when the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) resumes in Moscow in just under two weeks’ time.
Rydell took part in testing at Mantorp Park in Sweden on Monday and Tuesday, experiencing his first taste of a racing car since being diagnosed with thyroiditis in mid-April.
The Swede has as a result been forced to miss the WTCC races in Morocco, Hungary and Germany as he has been focussed on his recovery.
Whilst Rydell felt himself to be fit enough to race in the previous event at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, TouringCars.Net understands that the Swede was advised by his doctor not to participate due to the unique demands of the German circuit.
During the two-day test this week Rydell assessed his physical condition, as well as assessing new suspension components from the team’s technical partner Öhlins.
