LADA’s James Thompson has withdrawn from the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races in Hungary due to dental complications.
Thompson originally qualified his LADA Vesta in 14th position for Sunday’s races, but has now withdrawn from the event entirely.
“I am disappointed not to be in the car but was not feeling great in the car today and doctors advised it best that I should not drive tomorrow,” said the Brit, citing recent dental treatment which has resulted in complications.
It is the first event since the 2012 season opener in which Thompson has not been able to start either race. The 2012 event in Monza infamously featured Thompson being taken out in qualifying by then-team-mate Aleksei Dudukalo.
