Grégoire Demoustier hoping for return to form in Hungary

Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Grégoire Demoustier is hoping for a return to form in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races in Hungary, with the Frenchman returning to a circuit on which he has previously raced.

Demoustier and his team endured a difficult weekend in the previous event in Marrakech, with brake problems plaguing the outfit during the event.

The team remain optimistic, however, having completed over 1,000 km of testing mileage at Portimão prior to the street race in Marrakech.

With the characteristics of the Moroccan circuit not suited to benefitting from the test, Demoustier is more optimistic heading to a more traditional venue such as the Hungaroring.

Demoustier scored his first WTCC points in his first-ever meeting of the WTCC in Argentina, and the former GT racing driver has some previous experience of racing on the circuit just outside Budapest.

“After Morocco I am happy to be competing on a circuit which I have prior experience with, and after some recent testing in Germany at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, all the brake issues have been dealt with,” said Demoustier. “I am now confident that I will be able to fight for some championship points and the team has done an excellent job preparing the car for Budapest.”

Craft-Bamboo CEO Richard Coleman is equally optimistic ahead of this weekend’s meeting, adding: “We are back on familiar soil as this is a track our young driver Grégoire Demoustier is more acquainted with and it should provide the opportunity to display some of the performance gained from the Portimao test.”
