Organisers of the TCR International Series have confirmed that the planned event in Chile at the Codegua International Circuit has been cancelled, and will not be replaced this year.
The event had been planned to be the ninth of the season for the new series, but due to the fact that the circuit must undergo some “important adjustment works” the venue will not be available on the requested date.
“The Chileans are working hard and have already made a huge effort to build such a great facility which is the first permanent racetrack of international standards in their country,” explained Marcello Lotti, CEO of organisers WSC Ltd. “We did not want to put additional pressure on them to make the requested adjustments in time to host our races and so we will work together to visit Chile in 2016.”
The event will not be replaced, leaving the 2015 calendar with eleven rounds and 22 races. It also means there will be almost two months between the event in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 25 / 26 July and Marina Bay, Singapore on 18 – 20 September.
