Power Maxed Racing have confirmed that they will prepare a second Chevrolet Cruze for the 2015 British Touring Car Championship, after obtaining United Autosport’s second licence.
The acquisition, which was confirmed on Friday (27 February), the championship’s deadline for entries, has gained the necessary ratification from Series Director Alan Gow, and confirms the departure of United Autosports after just one season in the sport following a largely unsuccessful venture in 2014.
News of a second car continues a busy recent period for Power Maxed Racing, who announced a fortnight ago that they would take control of BTC Racing’s entry having sponsored the team last season before confirming two-time race winner Dave Newsham as their first driver and former Triple Eight Crew Chief Martin Broadhurst as their Team Manager, with a second driver expected to be announced in the immediate future.
Team Principal Adam Weaver said that the deal had been planned for some time, and hoped that the move would help his outfit as they aim to challenge significantly further up the order in 2015.
“The second car was always part of the master plan but we wanted to keep it quiet until everything was in place,” he said. “We’ve been non-stop since the end of last season to bring it all together but it’s a great feeling to see it work out.
“We are delighted to be able to grow the team with a view to challenging for podiums in 2015. Signing the 2014 Jack Sears Trophy winner and BTCC race winner Dave Newsham was the first step of many and the expertise of our new Team Manager Martin Broadhurst are set to put Power Maxed Racing firmly on the map this year.
“Power Maxed Racing wouldn’t be in such a strong position if it wasn’t for the commitment from Chris Stockton last season to keep pushing the car and the team. We are working flat out to present the new look cars at the Season Launch.”
