Tom Chilton will remain with the ROAL Motorsport team for the 2015 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) season, campaigning a Chevrolet Cruze TC1 for the second successive year.
Chilton was one of only two drivers to take a victory in the newly-built Chevrolet in 2014, scoring an impressive pole and win in race one in Beijing. The Brit will be hoping to add to his tally of three WTCC victories in 2015 with the Italian team.
“I’m delighted to be racing again with ROAL in the WTCC,” said Chilton, who is entering his fourth season in the World Championship. “I settled into the team quickly last year and managed some great results and podiums on our way to the Yokohama Teams Trophy. I’ve been training hard over the winter and can’t wait to get back into the car.”
In preparation for the new season, which begins in just over a month in Argentina, Chilton and ROAL Motorsport will take part in two days of testing in Valencia, Spain on the 1st and 2nd of February, before moving to Barcelona for an additional two days on the 5th and 6th of February.
Team Principal Roberto Ravaglia admits that the team are hoping to build on their success of 2014, which saw them take five podium finishes with Chilton and Tom Coronel.
“We’ve set ourselves some high targets for this year to build on the success we had in 2014 and we’re delighted to have Tom back in our car to help us achieve them,” said 1987 WTCC Champion Ravaglia. “He did an excellent job for us last year and we’re all excited to see what we can do with him behind the wheel for 2015”.
ROAL Motorsport will confirm the driver of their second Chevrolet in mid-February.
