Jack Clarke believes that this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship meeting at Silverstone offers him another opportunity to move up the series’ pecking order.
After a mixed start to his BTCC career, the Crabbie’s Racing driver has now established himself as a midfield runner, with two points scores in races two and three at Rockingham – which included a drive from the rear of the field to take 14th in the final encounter – meaning that the rookie has now notched up eight points in his last five races, by far his most consistent run of the season.
And given his parent outfit Motorbase’s history of strong results at the circuit in recent years, as well as the continuing development of his Ford Focus, Clarke sees the penultimate meeting of the season as an opportunity to score his best results to date.
“I am getting a kick out of improvements as the line on the graph keeps going up and in the right direction,” said 26-year-old Clarke. “The progress we are making really motivates the team, sponsors and me as we press forward. We couldn’t quite get the results that our pace deserved at Rockingham – it was just one of those ‘what could have been’ weekends.
“We know internally that we have made a big step forward and at Silverstone, Motorbase Performance have a good record. The Ford Focus ST goes well on the National Circuit so we could be in for a marked improvement.”
