Jason Plato set a blistering pace in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session at Snetterton, beating championship leader Colin Turkington into second with Adam Morgan in third.
Plato set a string of fastest laps in a row, eventually setting a time of 1:56.197s, which was enough to put him a second clear of his nearest rivals for the remainder of the session.
Unlike in the first session when the circuit was damp from rain during the night, drivers were able to get straight down to action, as Nick Foster followed the traditional patten of staying out after an initial sighter lap, with his second times effort (1:59.611s) immediately faster than Alain Menu’s fastest time from first practice.
There were few significant shifts for the next 15 minutes or so, but shortly after the two Welch Protons set their first times of the session Jack Goff broke the silence at the front, slotting into fifth with a 1:57.652. He climbed to third briefly, but eventually finished two places further back.
Turkington made his move into second five minutes before the end of the session to usurp Jackson, while Morgan claimed his top three time shortly after the chequered flag had fallen.
Behind the top five, Rob Collard was sixth ahead of early leader Tordoff and Tom Ingram, while Matt Neal was the best placed of the Honda drivers in ninth, with Menu and Glynn Geddie between himself and his partner in a low-key session for the marque.
