Andrew Jordan continued to dictate the pace in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session at Thruxton, heading a Honda 1-2-3 with Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal in second and third.
Jordan carried his dominant pace over from the first session, retaining an advantage of more than four-tenths-of-a-second ahead of Shedden, with the Honda trio clear out in front from nearest rival Sam Tordoff who grabbed fourth, more than a second behind Jordan’s benchmark.
The opening minutes of the session saw a departure from proceedings as all but one of the rear-wheel drive cars pitted while a number of the front running cars stayed out. Alain Menu was the first to get up to speed, setting a 1:18.158s ahead of Hunter Abbott who decided to stay out.
Jordan obliterated those times a few minutes later however, first setting a 1:16.618s before lowering that to the pace-setting time of 1:16.314s, with Tom Ingram’s third place at that point more than two seconds slower than the Pirtek driver.
Drivers continued to circulate and improve, but it too until the 15th minute of the session for anyone to get within a second of the leading time, with Neal setting a 1:17.261 before both Shedden and he improved on that time, efforts of 1:16.792s and 1:17.060s sealing their respective second and third places.
The chasing pack gradually made up ground on the trio, as Tordoff claimed fourth with then minutes of the session remaining. He finished ahead of an impressive quartet consisting of Adam Morgan, Jack Goff, Tom Ingram and Glynn Geddie, who were all less than a second-and-a-half behind Jordan.
Mat Jackson and Colin Turkington completed the top ten, with the latter causing a red flag and missing the last seven-and-a-half minutes of the session after coming unstuck at Allard, where the first session’s two red flags were also caused.
Jason Plato was only 17th in the session after a 12th place finish in the first, while Aron Smith missed out completely following his impact earlier in the day.
